Although there is much false promotion and confusion with this product, some say it is very helpful.

“Coral calcium is much more than just a source of calcium. It is a holistic mineral supplement that is rich in calcium and magnesium, but it contains more than 70 trace minerals that may be of value for general health.”

This would be in the point of view of the seller. Stephen Holt, the author of the article, said that the Coral Calcium is only beneficial if it is truly from Okinawa, Japan and not anywhere else. He says that other calcium supplements can be mislabeled as Coral Calcium, which would not be beneficial to the lives of people. Holt says you need the correct type of coral calcium for it to be helpful in one’s health. Natures Benefit, Inc. was responsible for starting a huge line of coral calcium products. They made a “commitment” to research and develop their product. They even signed a research agreement with the Marine Bio Co. Ltd., in Japan, the producer of the Coral Calcium. Natures Benefit, Inc. says that they will not support false products.

Holt supports the two companies because he says their extensive research shows positive effects of the Coral Calcium. Holt says that they make a premium type of coral calcium. He says that the Marine Bio shows good absorption of their coral calcium in human and animal experiments. Holt says that the Coral Calcium also helps the brain relax. This has been showed by electrical recordings of brain activity in people who have taken their product.

He also says, “New mineral products for the nutritional support of diabetes mellitus have emerged from this research.” It also improves heartburn and bone health.

In conclusion, a supporter of Coral Calcium would say, “[Coral Calcium] is here to stay with its multiple potential health benefits and it is a shame that this category has been hurt by unscrupulous promotion in the past.”

For more information on how a promoter of Coral Calcium feels, go here.

By Jan Michael Bumatay

Too Much Calcium!

Everyone knows that Calcium is good for the body, helping to keep bones strong, blood pressure normal, and many other things. Those who support the intake of Coral Calcium suggest that it is an absolute necessity to take as much calcium as possible on a daily basis, specifically Coral Calcium from the Okinawa Islands. But how much calcium, whether you believe in the use of Coral Calcium or not, is too much?
According to many sources, Calcium can cause constipation when taken in too large of a dose. If that isn't enough of a reason to stop someone from believing in the myths of excessive Coral Calcium intake, than what could possibly be?

Taking too much calcium (three to four times the usual dose) can lead to such side effects as constipation, dry mouth, a continuing headache, increased thirst, irritability, loss of appetite, depression, a metallic taste in the mouth, and fatigue. (See source here.)

Along with all of the nasty side effects, Calcium is not capable of being absorbed into the blood stream without the aid of seperate Vitamin D. Therefore, along with the excessive amount of Calcium consumed by non-skeptics, Vitamin D would also be needed to insure that the Calcium is even being used by the body. Clearly, taking coral calcium or just calcium supplements as a replacement for healthier eating and balanced vitamin intake proves to have more disadvantages than one would think. Not only has excessive Calcium intake, specifically Coral Calcium, had no basis in science as being healthy, but it HAS been proved that there is such a thing as "too much Calcium."

To read more about how much Calcium is too much, click here.

By Emily Bunin

Alkaline: What Your Body Really Needs

There are articles and advertisements everywhere promoting coral calcium supplements. From TV infomercials to websites, all of the predominantly false advertisements claim coral calcium can cure cancer, diabetes, and other diseases. Many advertisers claim that “coral calcium removes chlorine and other harmful elements from water while adding good ones, making your body more alkaline, boosting the immune system and treating everything from fatigue and digestive disorders to cancer”. Drinking water with high alkaline content (or calcium) or “hard water,” does not necessarily enhance the bodies immune system. As a matter of fact, water with high alkaline content is common throughout the western United States, and consequently there has been no proof that “hard water” is helpful in any way. So-called "doctors" also conveniently promote that water with high alkaline and calcium content is the reason why Okinawa residents have the most concentration of centenarians. Dr. Barefoot and other business marketers have used this false advertising, even though there has been no scientific research done to prove their theories. Sound like a money scam? It is generally true that Okinawans live longer than Americans and heart diseases, diabetes, obesity, and prostate cancer are rare in their area, but it has not been shown that this is because of the coral calcium enriched water. It has, however, been shown to be due to their superior diets and active lifestyles.
Traditional Okinawans consume at least seven servings of vegetables and
fruits daily, an equal number of grains, two daily servings of soy products,
green tea every day and fish rich in omega-3s (several times a week). Meat,
poultry and eggs account for only three percent of the Okinawan diet.
Studies actually found that Americans take in more calcium than most Okinawan
citizens. The bottom line is “making your body more alkaline” is
nothing more than a clever marketing scam used by business men to confuse the
consumers.

For more information click, here

By: Roland Feliciano

Does Sugar Feed Cancer?

Dr. Robert Barefoot, advocate of Coral Calcium, has made claims that the main cause for degenerate health conditions in the world today is the common diet. Because of his beliefs, in 1981 Barefoot began "intensive medical research into the relationship between disease and nutrition," working closely with Dr. Carl Reich to develop safer and smarter eating habits, along with supplemental vitamins that would supposedly rid the body of disease risk.
Around the same time that Barefoot and Reich were conducting their research, Dr. Otto Warburg, a now two-time Nobel Prize winner, was experimenting with Alkaline and it's effects on malignant tumors.
Every time Dr. Warburg put a tumor into an alkaline medium, it would die within seconds. According to Dr. Warburg, to kill cancer all you have to do is make your body . . . ALKALINE by taking certain supplements and by following some commonsense health rules.
Because Barefoot and Warburg were experimenting with similar health issues, they began working together. They developed theories about the causes of cancer, and together learned that sugar is one of the main factors in developing cancers of the body.
So how exactly does sugar cause cancer? Simply put, cancer is the rapid, irregular, and uncontrollable reproduction of cells in the body. According to Barefoot and Warburg, Cancer is spurred by fermentation of the cells, and fermentation (think about the process of making wine...) is brought upon by the addition of sugar. The doctors claim that sugar is the main cause for cancer, and should be entirely cut out of the diet. Many alternative nutritionists around the world would agree. Based on their supposed research, it is extremely possible that sugar is a deadly food for human beings.

The body is constantly overworked trying to feed this cancer. The cancer is constantly on the verge starvation and thus constantly asking the body to feed it. When the food supply is cut off, the cancer begins to starve unless it can make the body produce sugar to feed itself.
Now, knowing that one's cancer needs sugar, does it make sense to feed it sugar? Does it make sense to have a high carbohydrate diet?

Why hasn't this been advertised more avidly?

For more questions and answers about sugar, and it's supposed effects on the onset of cancer in the human body, click here.

By Emily Bunin

Truth about Coral Calcium

Life Extension (LE) Magazine had a Question and Answer article about Coral Calcium in May 2003 issue. One of the questions was if Coral Calcium was the best calcium supplement on the market. The LE answered saying that it was heavily promoted in America as the best calcium supplement.

Coral rock consists of calcium carbonate, an inexpensive form of calcium used in products like Tums® and low cost calcium supplements. A meta-analysis of all pertinent published studies showed that calcium citrate is better absorbed than calcium carbonate by approximately 22% to 27%. Calcium bisglycinate has been shown to be better absorbed than calcium citrate [Calcified Tissue International 1990, 46:300-304]. The manufacturer of coral calcium bases the superiority claims on a study showing that when compared to other calcium sources, such as milk or cow bone, coral calcium carbonate absorbed better.

This is not surprising because milk and cow bone are not perfect ways of getting calcium. Calcium should be taken with vitamin D, which not all Coral Calcium contains. Promoters of Coral Calcium say it contains magnesium, but many other calcium products also contain magnesium. The recommended intake for calcium daily is at least 1000 mg. Coral Calcium usually only contains 400 mg of elemental calcium. Many say that the reason Okinawans live long is because of their access to the Coral Calcium because that is where it is from. Many say that this is not the reason, and that it is because of their low calorie diet, their consumption of disease preventing plants, and social ties that keep the elderly people with the family.

Another question the LE was asked was about a good product for brain function. The LE said that they would pick a multi-ingredient formula that provided the best nutrients to improve neurological function. They said that Cognitex was a good product in that in contained over six different brain enhancing nutrients. It contains nutrients that correct cognitive impairment, that maintain brain cell membranes.

By Jan Michael Bumatay

Weight Loss from Coral Calcium

Americans are often criticized for their taste for 'bigger' things. Bigger buildings, bigger boats, bigger houses, bigger cars, etc. The one things Americans have bigger than other countries that is considered to be a "big" problem is their collective waistline. From dieting to exercising to diet pills, people nationwide have been searching for the fastest, easiest, and least expensive way to get the weight off. It isn't hard to believe that Coral Calcium, the so-called remedy for almost anything, has been said to be extremely effective in weight loss.
Some sources suggest that Coral Calcium helps burn fat. Although many of these sources are clearly baseless, they do seem confident in their attempts to trick you and steal your money.

Calcium could be the key nutrient needed to help you lose weight, according to a growing consensus of new research examining the mineral. Calcium not only helps with hypertension, the research shows: it also appears to support healthy physiology in a way that results in the loss of excess body fat. (See source here).

Not only do the promoters of weight loss through the use of the oral supplement suggest that you saturate your body with calcium, they also consistently state that just plain old calcium won't do the trick.

Don't make the common mistake in thinking that calcium = milk. That's just a marketing myth promoted by the dairy industry. Coral calcium supplements are far better for you, and plant-based calcium is better yet.

The most important fact to consider is that no matter where the calcium supplement is coming from, it is still calcium. It's chemical make-up doesn't change, and although it may sound better to call it "coral calcium," calcium is calcium when it comes to health purposes. Obesity remains an epidemic taking over America that will most likely need more than some baseless facts about calcium to put a final stop to.

By Emily Bunin

Coral Calcium: Revealed

In “Coral Calcium – The answer to how do you spell HYPE?” Dr. Michael T. Murray reveals the naked truth behind coral calcium. Dr. Murray is one of the leading proponents of natural products and throughout his studies he has been angered by all the lies and preposterous claims by bogus products, especially coral calcium supplements. What is coral in the first place anyway?

Coral is composed of tiny, fragile living organisms called coral polyps. The
coral polyps take calcium carbonate or limestone from the sea and build
protective structures around themselves. As coral polyps die, new generations of
coral polyps then grow on top of the coral and coral reefs are formed.

Dr. Murray explained this in his article. He also pointed out that though coral reefs only compose 1% of the planet’s surface, coral reefs are home to 25% of the planets living organisms. With this information coral reefs are without a doubt one of the most fragile ecosystems in our planet and strict laws were made to preserve this. If coral reefs are protected by law, then where are the coral calcium harvested? Not trying to frighten the consumers but coral calcium is harvested from locations that are unsupervised by the government. Furthermore, since the source of coral calcium is unsupervised many of the coral calcium supplements were found to have major lead contamination.
Dr. Murray also explored whether or not coral calcium is the superior form of calcium and his findings are similar to my earlier blog “Coral Calcium Supplements A.K.A. Tums”. The calcium content of coral calcium ranges from 24% to 36% composed of calcium carbonate. Marketer’s however call them “aragonite” or “calcite” to confuse the consumers. Now that all the facts are laid out, you decide?

By: Roland Feliciano

Barefoot vs. Barrett

Robert Barefoot, a graduate of Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, authored 7 scientific publications, and 3 books. The books were The Calcium Factor¸ Death By Diet, and If It Glitters. His first two books were best sellers. Barefoot also has the most watched infomercial in history. The FTC said that there were claims by “hundreds of scientific publications” about Coral Calcium reversing diseases, even if Barefoot did not say that the product cured anything. Barefoot believes that the FTC is just doing its job.

Calcium is an essential nutrient to many systems inside the body. Many scientists around the world are studying the use of calcium in our body. The US National Library of Medicine’s PubMed System said that there were more than 17,000 scientific articles relating calcium to cancer. Barefoot had a problem with an article written in the “Edmonton Sun” about a “Cancer Scam.” He said many of the statements in the article were false, meaning the public got the wrong idea of his product.

Dr. Barrett, a Psychiatrist with no medical license, and Robert Baratz, an owner of a hair removal and ear piercing salon, teamed up against Barefoot. Jeremy Loome, the writer of the article against Barefoot allowed Barrett to give information in the article. Barrett told the readers that “there are people who are going to die as a result of what they have been doing" which is taking coral calcium. Barefoot asked Loome why he did not tell readers that Barrett said this, Loome said that the article was against him and not Barrett. Barrett promotes the selling of calcium carbonate, which he says is the same as coral calcium. Both men are wrong in that there is a huge difference between the two calcium products.

Both men think they are right, and now are against each other in that they say the other is misleading. In my opinion, both need to get their scientific evidence set before they can say that their product is better than the other’s product, although the article is against Barefoot.

Dr. Barrett, who is not a chemist, advises the people of Edmonton to buy calcium carbonate which he declares is the same as coral calcium.

Barrett, who has declared war on Bob Barefoot, represents "Quack Watchers" which is appropriate as they are all "Quacks", only capable of watching and not participating, who are interfering with legitimate medical research.

For more information on Barefoot against Barrett, go here.

By: Jan Michael Bumatay

Parkinson's Disease and Calcium

Parkinson's Disease is a terrible, life threatening and completely life altering disease. It plagues millions, and although it is not at all contagious, it is being found more and more commonly, in people both middle aged and older. It is a "progressive degenerative disorder of the central nervous system," and it essentially leads to loss of memory abilities, motor skills, sensory reception, and other things controlled mainly by the nervous system. Because the nervous system controls almost every other system, and therefore all bodily functions, Parkinson's is debilitating in a slow and painful way. Predictably, the substance Coral Calcium has been suggested as a means of relieving the symptoms, and maybe even curing Parkinson's all together.
The disease does not have a known cause, however many advances have been made towards relief for those carrying the disease. As is the case for most diseases, many alternative methods have presented themselves. One such method is the intake of Coral Calcium, as the substance has been said to rejuvenate and "bathe" the brain. While calcium is probably not a bad idea for someone suffering from the disease, as it is known to help cleanse the digestive tract along with Magnesium, the idea that specifically Coral Calcium supplements taken in large doses will make any significant improvement is baseless (as are most of the claims about Coral Calcium.) Someone seeking amelioration should contact a licensed physician before acting on any infomercial claims.

For more information about Parkinson's Disease, what is done to help those suffering, and what it does to the body, click here.

By Emily Bunin

Okinawa: Less Iron and Calcium Intake

Health Watcher, "<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Canada's Best Consumer Health Watchdog," said that there are too many scams with Coral Calcium. They said that the reason Coral Calcium is so popular is because of its ability to give patients longer lives. The scammers say they get the coral calcium from dead coral and are not killing the live coral in the sea.

In the article titled "Insufficient calcium and iron intakes among general female population in Japan, with special reference to inter-regional differences," Shimbo and the authors said that 200+ females were investigated in 12 regions of Japan. They would find the average of Calcium and Iron intakes of food, and found the average to be about 602 and 10.4 mg/day. This is less than sufficient when it is compared to the Recommended Daily Allowance in Japan for pre-menopausal women. After 10 years, the amount of intake of Calcium and Iron still did not increase. Another analysis was done showing that the women with the most insufficient intakes of Calcium and Iron are the Okinawa farmers. Their source of Calcium would be milk, pulse, vegetables, fish and shellfish, but milk consumption was low. The Okinawa farmers depended more on the vegetables than the fish and shellfish. This goes to show that the Coral Calcium which is said to be the reason for the long lives of Okinawans is false because their main source of Calcium is not even from the sea. So, to answer the question about Coral Calcium benefiting people with long lives, the answer is that it does not help.

For more articles about Coral Calcium and their abstracts, go here.

By: Jan Michael Bumatay

Coral Calcium Supplements A.K.A. Liquid Calcium Magnesium Blend

“Fight!!!” The propaganda used by coral calcium supplement companies are the same bologna we hear from infomercials and money hungry doctors such as Dr. Robert Barefoot everyday. We have heard it all from the miraculous curing abilities from 200 plus types of diseases, age reversal, and neutralizing our body pH level. But with all the “hocus pocus” put aside and considering only the testable and known facts, the average coral calcium supplement lacks in comparison against the average liquid calcium magnesium blend. Round 1, the consumer concern about the bioavailability of each supplement. According to Dr. Robert Barefoot the 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium in the coral calcium supplement results for maximum bioavailability. This statement of Dr. Barefoot holds no scientific proof or testing what so ever, the truth is coral calcium are grounded up coral or limestone. The colloid size particles of the coral calcium are too large to be readily absorbed and can easily be trapped in cell tissue that may lead to toxic buildup. The bioavailability of coral calcium fails in comparison to the water soluble and small ionic particles that are 10,000 times smaller than the colloid size. Round 2, the quality of the product. A coral calcium supplement varies greatly from one bottle to the next. The calcium, water and magnesium quality and content can vary depending on the source, unlike the liquid calcium and magnesium blend that are pharmaceutical grade and are manufactured in government-inspected facilities. And round 3, the most important factor, the price. For low bioavailability and lack of quality the price paid for coral calcium supplements are $20 to $35 per month compared to the tested, pharmaceutical grade liquid calcium and magnesium blend that cost $26.95 per month. The simple answer is that there is no comparison, coral calcium supplement talks the talk, but does not walk the walk. In other words… 1… 2… 3… KNOCK OUT!!!

For more information about coral calcium vs. liquid calcium magnesium blend, click here.

By: Roland Feliciano

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://emijanrol.blogspot.com/2005/10/coral-calcium-vs-liquid-calcium.html' title='Coral Calcium Vs. The majority of people who succumb to the tempting promises of infomercials and believe any kind of alternative methodology, regardless of background information and validated research, are doing so because of a lack of knowledge (and more often than not, intelligence). So what is it about the name "Coral" Calcium that draws so many people to it, other than the baseless claims of it's advocates?
Quite simply, the less knowledgeable percentage of people, specifically Americans in this case, are not likely to investigate the claims made by anyone who seems to be of any kind of importance. Too many people live by a "if it looks and sounds good on the outside, I'll believe it" standard. Barefoot, Trudeau, and many others know exactly who their target audience is, and they take advantage of the trusting and gullible Americans. With the use of the words "Coral Calcium," the promoters have created a flawless euphemism that draws the target consumer to buy the product. In truth, "Coral Calcium" is no different from the calcium found in milk, limestone, grain, and other calcium rich products. It just refers to the fact that coral contains calcium. But with a term like "coral," many more people are drawn to the temptingly alternative and incredibly well advertised product.
Why is the use of the euphemism dangerous? In truth, it's probably not, and the people who buy into products like Coral Calcium would probably do it, regardless of the name. But it could be considered important to know that "coral" is simply another marketing term, and one should understand the direct proportion between an increase in good-sounding names and an increase in profit.

For more information on "coral" calcium, and a look at some marketing techniques used to sell it, click here.

By Emily Bunin

Coral Calcium and Multiple Sclerosis

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society received questions about the treatment for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) through Coral Calcium. Coral Calcium sellers claim that their product can cure this disease. According to a recent release from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), sellers of this product are now not allowed to promote it. People from this group include Robert Barefoot, Deonna Enterprises, Inc., and Karbo Enterprises, Inc. These groups are not allowed to promote that their product can cure cancer, MS, heart disease or the other 200+ diseases they say will be cured. The groups also cannot promote that their product is better than other calcium supplements, meaning that the body absorbs their product more than other supplements.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine said that the FTC and FDA sent warning letters to the website operators to take off any false promotion that is on the site. He is a firm believer in the notion that coral calcium, when taken in large amounts, can cure "95% of all disease." One of the many diseases that he claims can be effectively cured with the oral ingestion of coral calcium is Heart Disease.

In 1969, Dr. Kilmer McCully examined the medical records of an 8 year old boy who suffered from a stroke and died. After reviewing the details of the boys case, he discovered that the boy had an enzyme deficiency that lead to the over-production of the amino acid "homocysteine." This caused the boys arteries and veins to develop cracks and holes, and look strikingly like those of older men and women who suffer from heart disease, and eventually die of heart attacks or strokes. McCully called the boys disease "homocystinuria." When Robert Barefoot read about the reasearch of McCully, he used it to his advantage, specifically to promote coral calcium.

Barefoot had been promoting the fact that Coral Calcium reduced the risk of heart disease, and even cured it. He quoted McCully's research, and tried to convince millions of people, through infomercials, that it was in fact this "homocysteine" that was causing heart disease, not cholesterol. He went as far as to say that Cholesterol can "seal the cracks in our arteries" that cause heart disease. As predicted, he stated that the oral ingestion of Coral Calcium was the cure for homocystinuria.Unfortunately for Barefoot, Vitamin B is the only known cure for overproduction of homocystuniria, and once again, there is no medical evidence of coral calcium ridding the circulatory system of this amino acid. Better luck next time, "doctor."

By Emily Bunin

Coral Calcium a Scam: True or False?

Companies that support Robert Barefoot and his products say that Coral Calcium can cure over 200 diseases. A health bulletin wrote a report asking if Coral Calcium was really what promoters said it was. For this to happen, they looked at several scientific journals. Nowhere in the journals did it say that Coral Calcium was beneficial, or the “best calcium.” All the research done showed that no form of coral calcium could treat the different diseases.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

After writing the report, an ad came up that seemed to be a reply to their report. This ad came from a seller of Coral Calcium. The seller said that Coral Calcium not only contained calcium, but the coral also contained minerals that were not taken normally by people in the country. The health bulletin said that they did not specify how much of those minerals were in the coral, which was misleading. The seller promoted that the Coral Calcium also helped in anti-aging, but they had no support of this. The health bulletin said that there is no support for the connection of long life and Coral Calcium. The seller says that the Coral Calcium is a “very valuable natural mineral supplement.” If this is true, why is the price of the coral calcium much more than other mineral supplements? The seller said that many people claimed that Coral Calcium is beneficial. The health bulletin replied that more research needs to be done and that the product would need to be compared to another pill to see the differences. The seller says that their product does not harm the living corals, but how would they know unless they saw the differences in amount of coral in the past years. Because there is no evidence or studies that prove Coral Calcium to be what sellers say, it is true that Coral Calcium is a scam for sellers to get more profit.

By: Jan Michael Bumatay

Why Is Coral Calcium So Good At Being Good???

Coral calcium sellers claim that their product has the ability to cure up to 200 different types of diseases including cancer and diabetes. This ability is the reason why the average life expectancy of the Okinawa population is 105 years old, in comparison to the 77 years old life expectancy to the population living on the mainland. That is about a quarter of a century difference in life expectancy! So, what makes this miracle supplement so good at being good? Our good friend Dr. Robert Barefoot answers this puzzling mystery for us. The answer is simply two to one; two to one is a strict ratio of calcium to magnesium. According to Dr. Robert Barefoot and Dr. Kunihiko Ishitano, this is the perfect ratio for a “dramatic increase in calcium absorption by the human body”. Calcium absorption is very important for our health because “for most, many of the pills remain in tact as they pass through the intestine”. This makes the coral calcium supplements far more superior to the other calcium supplements. For every 12,000 tons of coral calcium harvested only 200 tons meet this two to one ratio, which makes this special supplement expensive and worth it. With higher body absorption of calcium, the pH level of our body fluids, such as blood and saliva, are increased. This helps us because sick body fluids are acidic or low in pH. Higher pH level of the minerals will counteract the low pH of sick body fluids. Calcium body absorption and pH balancing are the two reasons that make coral calcium so good at being good.

For more information about Robert Barefoot's reasonings visit here

By: Roland Feliciano

The Coral Calcium Theory: Beginnings

Coral calcium, coral calcium! That is what everyone seems to be into these days. Coral calcium is one of the top searches in Google and Yahoo everyone have heard the stories of the supplements ability to cure 200 types of diseases including cancer and diabetes; everyone have heard of Dr. Robert Barefoot making millions out of his pioneered product, coral calcium supplements. But, have you wondered where this theory began? Well, the theory of coral calcium supplements started in Okinawa, Japan. The theory that incorporates daily coral calcium intake in our diet can cure 200 types of diseases including cancer and diabetes started from the well known, longevity of the Okinawans. Dr. Robert Barefoot believed that the source of their longevity was from their water supply. According to Dr. Robert Barefoot since the coral calcium in the reefs are alkaline it neutralizes the acidity of the human body enabling it to cure countless number of diseases. Though his ideas seem farfetched there are some good by taking his coral calcium supplements. Most doctors believe that calcium intake well prevents osteoporosis and keep bones strong, however no scientific proof have been discovered for the cure of 200 types of diseases including cancer and diabetes. However, as of now the benefits of regular calcium carbonate are no different from the coral calcium.

For more information on how Robert Barefoot got his ideas, go here.

By: Roland Feliciano

Coral Calumny: Kevin Trudeau

Kevin Trudeau is the author of the National Bestseller National Cures They Don't Want You to Know About, the book that has sparked controversy and deliberation over whether prescription drugs, pain killers, and even sunscreen are actually necessary to living a healthy life. Kevin Trudeau would like America to believe that prescription drugs, pain killers, and sunscreen are actually dangerous and life threatening, and his book attempts to prove that "they" have been hiding this information from the world for years. Ironically, Kevin Trudeau has a history with many other "substances" that he claimed falsely would cure millions of people, including Coral Calcium Supreme.
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) filed complaints against not only Kevin Trudeau, but also Robert Barefoot, Shop America (USA), and other corporations. The FTC claimed that Trudeau and the others violated an act put in place by the FTC stating basically that false advertising and claims about health substances were illegal on many fronts. Trudeau claimed falsely that Coral Calcium Supreme had the means necessary to treat or cure cancer and other diseases, including multiple sclerosis and heart disease. The FTC charges that these claims are not based in any scientific evidence, and display calcium as a much more drastically effective drug than it actually is.
Trudeau and Barefoot aired a 30 minute infomercial advertising the so-called success of Coral Calcium with no basis in science, or anything for that matter. They stated that it would replenish the brain, restore memory, cure and prevent cancer, and many other things. Essentially, they sold the product on the belief that it was a "miracle drug." Interestingly enough, no studies have ever shown Coral Calcium to have any such effects. Granted, the supplement Calcium is very healthy, but the notion that Coral Calcium is such a great, rare, and important find in the health field is completely baseless for all intents and purposes. Trudeau faced court orders restricting him from that kind of false advertising. Because of this kind of baseless information, the FDA and FTC have sent warnings to many websites, warning them of the risk of publishing information that has no scientific proof. They are trying to put a stop to health fraud.
Millions of Americans are reading Trudeau's new book. If more people knew about his past, including his bouts with the idea of Coral Calcium being a miracle drug, maybe he wouldn't be a bestselling author, but a jail bird.

For more information on Kevin Trudeau and the FTC and FDA's constant efforts to stop him from false claims on health issues, click here.

By Emily Bunin

Long Live Okinawans: But from Coral Calcium?

There have been many questions about Coral Calcium and its use. Many, especially Robert Barefoot, have said that Coral Calcium will cure many health problems, including cancer and heart disease. Some recent studies show that calcium really does lower blood pressure. However, many still say that there is no true evidence to prove this. Moreover, other studies say that too much calcium can have a harmful effect on men because it could lead to prostate cancer.

Many people say that Okinawans, those native to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Okinawa, have the most population that live over 100 years old, due to their rich Coral Calcium which is found off of the island. They say this because Okinawans are not exposed to many of the diseases in the Western countries. They say their drinking water is the cause because it has supplements of coral calcium. However, this is not true because Okinawans consume significantly less calcium than people in the Western countries. Their drinking water contains high mineral content, which includes calcium, but their intake of Calcium is still less. Okinawans live long due to their low-calorie diet which consists of plants, soy foods, and fish.

The Okinawa program does not support the endoresement of Coral Calcium because they say, "The claim that you can enhance health by making the body more alkaline has no basis in science. "

As of now, the coral reefs of Okinawa are in trouble in that they have been lost due to pollution and development. The reefs need to be protected rather than taken and sold for a product that is not even proven to work scientifically.

To find more information about the Coral Calcium of Okinawa, you can visit the site.

By: Jan Bumatay

Group Members

Emily Bunin
Jan Bumatay
Roland Feliciano

http://emijanrol.blogspot.com
